Today's World Pond Skimming
Championships has officially been postponed due
to major road closures and adverse weather conditions.
The event has been rescheduled to take place on
Sunday, April 19 from 2-5pm at Golden Peak on
Vail Mountain.

Skimming BBQ
Sun, April 19 from 5-10pm – Of a Revolution
(O.A.R.) presented by Bud Light
* Concerts will be free to the public and held
on the International Bridge in Vail Village with
the stage set up in front of Solaris.
* Concert-goers are encouraged to dress appropriately
for the outdoor performances.
* Food and beverages will be available for purchase
at each show.
* BBQ will be free to the public and featured
at Golden Peak on Vail Mountain.

Where do I park?
You are highly encouraged
to park free in both the Vail Village and Lionshead
parking structures on the South Frontage Road.
The Town of Vail also has an extensive public
bus system. Please use it wisely and avoid drinking
and driving at all costs. Vail PD, the Eagle County
Sheriff, and the CO State Patrol have zero tolerance
and will enforce DUI laws to the fullest! Street
parking is not permitted until all public parking
facilities are completely full.
What does the Breitling
All Mountain Film Competition entail?
The Breitling All Mountain
Film Competition is an a video contest, with teams
of two aiming for the Grand Prize of two Breitling
backcountry emergency watches valued at $12,000!
Throughout 4 days of Vail Mountains' Spring Back
to Vail celebration – the #1 Spring Mountain
Party in North America – teams will utilize
ANY TERRAIN possible in order to create the most
unique and original 3 minute video part of the
competition. Teams also have the chance to win
two Epic Passes and additional prizes from industry
leaders.
Can I watch the Breitling
All Mountain Film Competition video entries and
vote for my pick?
Filmmakers’ videos
will be uploaded to REELcomp.com
for viewers to access and email their voting preference.
Various awards will be announced at Golden Peak
on Saturday.
Will there be a professional
judging division?
A select panel of judges
will be chosen to view and judge the enter videos.
The Breitling All Mountain Film Comp Champion
Team will be announced at Golden Peak on Saturday.
What will the winning rider
and filmmaker receive?
The entered riders and filmmakers
will be competing for the chance to win two Breitling
watches valued at $6,000 each. Also up for grabs
are two (2) 2009-10 EPIC passes from Vail Resorts.
What exactly is Pond Skimming?
The "sport" of
Pond Skimming involves finely tuned athletes attempting
to defy the laws of physics and slide completely
across a pond of freezing water on skis or a snowboard
donning creative costumes. Click

How do I sign up for Pond
Skimming?
We encourage those interested
to register early as last year's event sold-out
quickly. Registration opened March 15, 2009 and
is now sold-out.
Is there a cost to participate
in Pond Skimming?
Pond Skimmers of all ages
and abilities can pre-register for the Championships
online for $35. Last year's event sold-out quickly
so remember to register early.
Where will the Pond Skimming
take place?
The World Pond Skimming
Championships will take place on the freezing
waters of Lake Golden Peak at the base of Golden
Peak on Vail Mountain.
Do I need to bring any
equipment?
You must bring your own
skis or snowboard, depending on your preferred
watercraft. Costumes are definitely encouraged
as a component of judging is based upon creativity.
We will have lifeguards on duty for those who
forget their water wings.
How will the Pond Skimming
be judged?
A select panel of celebrity
judges will score each contestant on distance,
style, creativity, overall impression and water
solubility. The more outrageous the better!
What are the prizes for placing
in the top three at Pond Skimming?
1st - Two (2) ’09-’10
EPIC passes + The Golden Skimmer Award
2nd & 3rd Place - prizes
