Today's World Pond Skimming Championships has officially been postponed due to major road closures and adverse weather conditions.
The event has been rescheduled to take place on Sunday, April 19 from 2-5pm at Golden Peak on Vail Mountain.

Think you can walk on water? Feeling unsinkable? Then gather your floaties and flippers and test your water solubility on Lake Golden Peak at the World Pond Skimming Championships, a showing that defies the laws of physics and perhaps even common sense.

POND SKIMMING REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL

Competition field is limited to 75 skimmers. If you do not make the top 75, please come out and cheer on your favorite skimmers!

New for 2009: The Breitling All Mountain Film Competition.
Tues., April 14 – Sat., April 18, 2009
The comp will feature teams of two people, one rider and one filmmaker, utilizing any terrain on Vail Mountain over the course of four days in order to create the most unique and original three-minute video. Filmmakers’ videos will be uploaded to a website for pro-judges and public viewers to access and vote.

The winning duo will be awarded two Breitling backcountry (delete) emergency watches valued at more than $12,000 during Pond Skimming on Saturday.
