• Where can I register?
You can register on-line by clicking here. This season, we will once again be using Active.com as our on-line registration website. Active.com provides a better service to our participants, especially with the immediate confirmation upon your registration. We do recommend that you print out your Ultra 100 registration confirmation for your records.

You may also register in the Vail Valley at the Mountain Pedaler in Minturn and Eagle -or- The Kind Cyclist in Edwards.

• Can I register at the race?
If slots are still available, riders may register on site Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Official Race Headquarters in Beaver Creek, located at the top of the second escalator, next to Starbuck’s. Our staff will accept registrations from 12pm-6pm.

• What does my entry fee get me?
You will receive a pre-race meal, SWAG Bag, neutral aid station support & food, A CUSTOM RACE JERSEY (if you register before July 1, 2006) and vouchers for the post-race party (live entertainment TBA). And if you finish under 13-hours, you will also receive a customized finish photo (online redemption). Mainly, though, your entry fee covers course permits, race expenses and participant and event insurance.

• Where can my friends and family watch?
The best place for friends and family to watch the Ultra 100 is at the base area of Beaver Creek (start/finish location). Riders will be passing through the start/finish area multiple times throughout the day as they complete their required number of laps. There will be limited viewing opportunities along the 20-mile course, with no easy point of access.

• I have never done an ultra-endurance race before... is this one for me?
Yes. Traditionally, only about 5% of the racers take part in the Ultra 100 as a competitive event. The other 95% take part as a personal challenge, much like that of a marathon. The course is not super technical, and normally more than 75% of starting riders finish under the 13-hour time limit.

• What classes are there?
100 Mile or 100K Individual: Sport/Citizen (18-34), Sport/Citizen (35-44), Sport/Citizen (45+), Expert/Pro (18-34), Expert/Pro 35-44, Expert/Pro 45+

Two (100M), Three (100K) and Five (100M) Person Team Relays: Co-Ed, Men, Women, Tandem (if needed).

• What are the prizes?
1st Place Men - 100 Miles - $1500
2nd Place Men - 100 Miles - $1000
3rd Place Men - 100 Miles - $500

1st Place Women - 100 Miles - $1000
2nd Place Women - 100 Miles - $500
3rd Place Women - 100 Miles - $250

All racers finishing under the mandatory 13-hour time limit receive a custom Ultra 100 finishing photo (online redemption only).

• Do I need to bring my own support crew?
Each Aid Station is stocked with food, candy, bagels, chips, water, gels, energy food & drinks. It is highly recommended, though, that racers bring additional gels, or specific foods they like and train with during long rides. Many racers bring support crews for help in quickly replenishing supplies and for the often-needed moral support.

In terms of technical support, support crews may provide parts & support at the start/finish aid station only. The two other aid stations that are located along the 20-mile loop are not accessible to the public/support crews. However, we will have volunteers, as well as technical support from local bike shops, available for each rider. You may also carry your own parts (a tool kit, 2 spare tubes and a chain repair tool are recommended as bare essentials).

• When do I have to arrive for the Ultra?
Riders MUST check in and attend a course briefing on Friday, August 18, 2006 in Beaver Creek. At check-in, you will receive your race and helmet numbers, gift bag, and vouchers for Friday night¹s meal/course briefing and the post-race party. Most remaining questions, including lodging, nutrition, training tips, and a complete course description, can be answered in the Ultra 100 Athlete Guide.

The 2006 Ultra 100 is brought to you in part by... Gatorade, Steadman Hawkins Sports Medicine Clinic, Vail Dentistry, The Vail Daily, KZYR the Zephyr, and KVBA TV8.
